ZARPA - EL YUNQUE CONTRA EL MARTILLO

Unbelieveable how this Valencia based band surviving all the many years in the hard me tal biz. After their three vinyl outputs inside the first period of the 80ies ZARPA returned in 2002 with the classic LUCHANDORES DE LA PAZ album.Needless to write that the band by this moment already acts as a living legend. Beside the successful last album INFIERNO on KARTHAGO RECORDS stand now the new release EL YUNQUE CONTRA EL MARTILLO in the shops. In the line of the former disc INFIERNO continues the song material on this new release.Those which owe the older former discs know about the class of this group. No matter the new album contains again fiveteen classic latin Heavy Metal styled compo sitions. The opener SIN PIEDAD is then exact this kind of spanish metal we want to listen from this legendary act. Harder but in the same direction strikes LA ZARPA Y EL SABLE. The follow ing LA ULTIMA BATALLA sounds so as it the title promise. Epic moments with fine guitar leads by VINCENTE FEIJOO and RAFA JATIVA (ex SABLE) let this suberb track shine like a jewel in the light. RETORNANDO AL INFIERNO is then a guid ing instrumental part for the mighty titletrack. VINCENTE´S voice goes hand in hand with the musical adjustment of the songs.His medium and powerful volume in the voice made him to one of the big vocalists in the latin metal scene. One of my abso lute fave tracks on this disc is then TOKIO.
